The OKI Golf Card is a winner.
In June my wife and I were given a free two-month membership to our island’s country club. It was a very nice gesture, but we were travelling a bit and only played golf a handful of times. The course being what it is, 9-holes, is limited. So we decided not to join. Instead, we each bought the OKI Golf Card.
For $309.00, we each received six complimentary rounds of golf, with the following eight courses to choose from:
- The Golf Club at NewCastle. One round on Coal Creek (normally $160) and one on China Creek (normally $135).
- The Golf Club at Hawks Prarie. One round on The Links ($45). and one on the Woodlands ($55).
- Washington National Golf Course, home of UW (value $85)
- Echo Falls Gof Club ($45)
- Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club ($75)
- Harbor Pointe Golf Club ($65)
Keep in mind, these are prime-time rates, in mid-Summer. Cart fees are not included above, but are included with the OKI card. Literally show up to the course and go!
Washington National, above, graded out as the top course, with the Woodlands at Hawks Prarie and Trophy Lake coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively. For the price the Newcastle courses were in horrible condition. The greens were especially bad. For $150, I expect something exceptional and Coal Creek hardly moved my meter. It was pretty, but played like a $60 course, with bad greens.
Once the complimentary rounds run out, the OKI card provides a $10-$15 discount on each successive round. Add to that a free handicap and it is hard to go wrong, especially if you play golf at more than one course.
