October 29, 2008 Vallarta Cigar Factory Wows Wedding Guests
Recently at a fine wedding in Bucerias, Mexico, my wife and I entered the vibrant, latin-flavoured, moon-lit reception area and stumbled upon a man rolling cigars. Big one’s, little one’s, fat one’s and skinny one’s, in mild, medium, full, chocolate and vanilla flavors; this man rolled them all.
Having never been witness to such a fascinating craft, it seemed only natural for me to come home and spread the gossip of what should be a standard at all wedding receptions. The men, and many of the women, were quite pleased with this luxury addition. Having been a lifelong afficianado, until recently, of all things tobacco, the urge to splurge was overwhelming and I gave in to what was the mildest, best-tasting cigar I’ve ever had. The little chocolate one after dinner was pretty good too.
My wife even took part!
For those wedding planners with interests in the Puerto Vallarta area, make it easy on yourselves and get friendly with the guys at the Vallarta Cigar Factory. They do an awesome job. For locations in the rest of the world, you’ll have to do the research yourselves.

Wines and Cognac for your Wedding in Puerto Vallarta;
The Basics of Picking Great Wedding Champagne and Wine in Puerto Vallarta without breaking your wallet!
Wondering which champagnes and wines to serve at your wedding? You do not know how much of each you will need? Here are the basics that you will need to know to get the perfect mix at your big day.
You may already have a Champagne or wine that you love – something that the two of you drank on a favorite date, or a Champagne that your parents drank at their wedding. If you do not know, there are many helpful sites to Champagne and wine on the net. Your caterer will most likely have recommendations for you and will help you figure out how much wine you will need for the amount of people you are having. At most parties, approximately 30-50% will drink white wine (mostly Chardonnay), 30-50% will drink red wine (mostly cabernet). You will want to consider your crowd: more women usually mean more white wine drinkers, more men mean more red wine.
You will also want to consider what entree you are serving. Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc goes with a wide variety of seafood entrees, as well as poultry and cheeses, and is the best option for pasta with a cream sauce. Chardonnay is a widely popular white that works well with chicken, pork and many seafood dishes.
For red wines, Merlot and Cabernet are the most popular options and both suit a menu that includes beef or pastas with red sauces. Another crowd pleaser is Syrah, a light fruity red. It is great for weddings as it carries a sentiment of new beginnings and celebration.
And of course, you will want to have a Champagne or sparkling wine for toasting! (many of you may not know that sparkling wine is the same thing as champagne, except that its not from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France). This will be the most expensive part of your wine budget, thus only serve it for the toasting. You should plan for 2 glasses of Champagne per guest, unless your wedding will be very long, or you know that there will be many formal toasts. Cheers, F.G
